How we check our data
Sources
Opening times, prices, parking, dogs and access come from the operator's own pages. Heritage bodies and national datasets are used to identify sites and confirm what they are. Each page lists its sources at the bottom.
Checking
Facts are collected from the official pages, then read again independently. A fact is shown as verified only when two separate readings of the official source agree. Where they differ, a person decides.
Every practical section shows the date it was last checked. Opening times and prices change, so please confirm with the operator before a long journey.
What gets a page
A castle gets its own page only when its status, access and the core practical facts are confirmed. Sites we cannot confirm are not listed at all.
